Teneo is our open model, generic, unbranded line of products that we source from different factories and trading companies. The prices are highly competitive, but in some cases we may limit them to group buy or bulk buy offers. The Teneo products are all high quality, but we offer them unbranded since we had no input in their development...well almost nothing. The Teneo Seca TT timetrial and triathlon frame is one such exception. We are working with a factory to make a two position seatpost that will allow the same frame to be used for time trials and triathlons. The Teneo Seca will be very good. We hope to make it available as a Group Buy offer soon.

Organising group buys is not that simple, so we are still working on how best to set them up, market them and price them. Pricing of group buy offers is really important - price needs to be attractive, and yet it needs to be profitable to us too. It is a fine line. You can find the beginnings of the Group Buy offers in our new section: Group Buys

EDIT 14/06/09: I created a Blogger blog specifically for Velocite products. You can find more information there as that will be the main repository for Velocite brand related, non-commercial information. Click here: Velocite Bikes blog ![]() About Velocite. Velocite Co Ltd is a bicycle company registered in the USA, with headquarters in Taiwan. It was started by the Cycle Taiwan team to take advantage of excellent supply of cutting edge bicycle products in Taiwan and China and bring them to market before anyone else. We work very closely with factories in Taiwan and China to help them and us deliver the best products at least 18 months ahead of the mainstream market. The arrangement we have with these major factories is that we help them develop their own designs, we then get these designs and market them to riders that want something truly special today, but at a price that more closely matches the actual cost of delivering this product to market. The factory in return gets a lot of information and knowledge that they then use to pitch for new business to large OEMs when they come calling in November/December each year. Thus, what Velocite does will end up in the mainstream designs - 18 months after we are done with them. Velocite products are the most advanced and highest quality products within their category.

Ditec is a really exciting company. They are now one of the select few bike companies that have their own designs and own their own frame making moulds. ![]()

Gigantex is actually the source of many, many...many high priced brands' premium products. I was asked, however, not to share the identity of these brands with the world. Just consider this one fact and then think laterally: Gigantex make over 200 000 carbon rims every year. They also make carbon fiber cranks, stems, bars, seat posts, and an assortment of other parts and components. I already covered the some of the Gigantex rims in my previous post here: Of wheels and men. I visited Gigantex a few days ago and met with Steve Lee, the majority owner and "the boss" of Gigantex. He is a really nice guy with a very interesting vision for Gigantex and about what a factory should look like.

We will be able to sell to Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Spain, Sweden, actually to any country that you cannot find here: Banshee International Dealers. We will look after you if you do not have a local Banshee Bikes dealer. We can offer complete bikes as well as frames. We visited Pacific Cycles today. They make Banshee frames (Canfield Brothers, Astrix Niner and several other brands too) and saw a lot... I'll update this blog entry with photos of the brand new Legend frame and bike as well as many other interesting things that we saw and discussed with Jay and the nice people at Pacific.

They are experiencing significant growth in sales due to their success in winning large OEM contracts. You can now see Spinner forks specified even on Giant bikes. This is a major achievement since Giant is the largest bike company right now. They also won a small OEM manufacturing contract from BOS Engineering, the makers of the absolute highest end forks and shocks intended for professional downhill racing and extreme freeride. Spinner is making the BOS Idylle, N'dee forks and Stoy shock.

US$ 40 billion used to be a lot until the recent banking system meltdown demonstrated how little that actually is. The US government alone approved that gigantic US$ 700 billion "loan" while their European counterparts will not be far behind by the time this panic driven rescuing is done with. Anyway, I digress. The "interesting" thing is that many multinational bike and component brands still insist on claiming that their products were made in their own country: Italy, France, Germany, etc. While technically this may be correct due to the laws of origin in some countries that define the product's origin based on percentage of work performed to deliver the finished product to the customer, the consumer invariably assumes that the entire product was made in the claimed country of origin.
